Why this title: I see you: Joan Miro.
Joan is the
artist's first name, and MIRO is his surname.
When I
conceived the idea for this exhibition, I played with his surname, because 'Miro' is also a verb in Spanish, meaning 'to
see.
Using this
translation, I created the name of this exhibition: I See You: Joan Miro.
"Who
is JOAN MIRO:
Joan Miró is
a famous Spanish Catalan painter,
sculptor, and ceramicist, celebrated for his significant contributions to
Surrealism.
Born in Barcelona in 1893, Miró developed a
distinctive style characterized by vibrant colors, organic forms, and playful
abstraction.
His work
often drew inspiration from the landscapes and culture of Catalonia, blending
elements of fantasy and reality to create dreamlike compositions.
His legacy
is celebrated worldwide, and his art continues to inspire with its imaginative
qualities.
Tonight's exhibition
is inspired by Miró.
