Griffin Cappello

Griffin Cappello is an emerging Composer with his sights set on becoming a composer for film and television.  Currently in Year 10, he attends Rivermount College and, for his second consecutive year is receiving tuition in Classical Composition as part of the Young Conservatory Program with Griffith University.

Griffin’s obsession with film music began at a very young age.  At approximately 8 years of age, he decided he wanted to compose music for film.  He has always enjoyed listening to a wide variety of film scores with some of his favourites being The Dark Knight by Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard, Slow West by Jed Kurzel, and Vice by Nicholas Britell.  Composers who experiment with found sound sampling or design and/or building their own instruments are a great source of inspiration for Griffin, for example, the music of Daniel Pemberton and Bear McCreary.

The I See You Joan Miro exhibition will be Griffin’s second experience sharing a live performance of his original work.  To create this piece, he used stimulus images of Miro making art, coupled with several of Miro’s works.  It was Griffin’s intention to capture the movement and spatial qualities of Miro, to communicate how Miro physically created his art, and how as a viewer he perceived the sense of space within some of Miro’s works.
